nonmetal: an element not having the character of a metal, as carbon or nitrogen.
compound: a pure substance composed of two or more elements whose composition is constant.
isotope: any of two or more forms of a chemical element, having the same number of protons in the nucleus (or the same atomic number) but having different numbers of neutrons in the nucleus (or different atomic weights).
Atmosphere: the air.
Litho/Geosphere: the solid portion of the earth.
Hydrosphere: the water on the glode e.g. oceans, lakes, rivers.
Biosphere: all plants and animals.
Fossil Fuels: any combustable organic material.
